Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) has announced its examination results for the HSSC exams held in May 2008.
The first batch of candidates took their examinations in 11 locations across Pakistan.
Of the candidates, 10.39 per cent gained grade A-1, 26.49 per cent passed in grade A and 31.43 per cent grade B, with an overall passing rate of 76.36 per cent.
AKU-EB uses an electronic marking system to check the papers, which protects the candidate against possible errors on the examiners' part. The process also helps provide feedback on candidate performance question by question and school by school. Added significance of exam results this year is that students and schools/colleges were able to work on weak areas of their performance in light of the specific feedback given to them by AKU-EB last year.
Examinations were conducted in both English and Urdu. Listening skills were assessed in both languages while practicals were conducted in four different subjects. AKU-EB trained teachers used residential e-marking facilities in Karachi and Gilgit to check the examination papers. Electronic marking and tabulation of results provide tight quality assurance so that colleges can have total trust in these results, as valid and reliable reports of their candidates' unaided efforts.
AKU-EB's main goal is to improve the quality of education and learning in schools through the conduct of transparent and trustworthy examinations for SSC and HSSC qualifications.
