Kazim Bacchus Research Seminars
The Kazim Bacchus Research Seminar (KBRS), named in honor of AKU-IED’s Founding Director, is a monthly platform for knowledge exchange. It offers a space for AKU faculty, students, and education experts from national and international institutions to present their research, fostering rich intellectual discussions. The seminar brings together educators, students, and professionals from partnering schools, NGOs, and universities. Originally launched as 'Friday Research Seminars' over two decades ago, KBRS has evolved to feature scholars from across the globe in both in-person and online sessions.
Dr Kazim Bacchus, an internationally recognised scholar in international and comparative education, was instrumental in shaping AKU-IED’s foundation. Born in Guyana, he began his career as a teacher. Dr Bacchus taught in several countries, including the UK, USA, Finland, and the West Indies. He held advanced degrees from the University of London and the University of California, Berkeley. In 1992, he was awarded a higher doctorate in Education by the University of London for his distinguished research contributions.
Dr Bacchus was AKU-IED’s first Director (1993–1996), laying the groundwork for the institute’s enduring impact on education in Pakistan. His legacy lives on through the KBRS, which continues to inspire educators and researchers.
Upcoming Seminar
Join us for a thought-provoking seminar exploring the complexities of interpreting classical and medieval texts. These works, rich with supernatural elements and historical biases, present unique challenges—but also offer valuable insights when approached with a critical lens.
