Sports and Rehabilitation Centre
The Sports and Rehabilitation Centre at the Stadium Road campus in Karachi offers various indoor and outdoor sports facilities of international standards. Membership of the Centre is open to all employees, alumni, students, volunteers, retired employees and trustees of the University. Students automatically become members of the Sports Centre upon enrollment at AKU.
Timings
The Centre is open seven days a week (unless otherwise notified).
March to October
Monday to Friday: 7:00 to 9:00 and 12:00 to 23:00
Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 to 23:00
November to February
Monday to Friday: 7:00 to 9:00 and 12:00 to 22:00
Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 to 22:00
Facilities
Swimming Pool
Our olympic-sized swimming pool is partially covered by a canopy to enable members to swim under shade and is lit up with flood lights (inside and outside the pool) to enable swimming during late hours. There are fully equipped changing rooms with lockers and hot and cold showers, with separate rooms for men and women.
Anyone who wishes to swim is required to wear synthetic swimming costumes and swimming caps. Cotton costumes are strictly not allowed.
Gymnasium
A multipurpose state-of-the-art air-conditioned gymnasium offers badminton, table tennis, basketball, volleyball and netball. Members need to bring their own sports gear and equipment. The gymnasium is equipped with automated bleachers that can house an audience of 1,220 people for tournaments and ceremonies.
Aerobics Room
The aerobics room is a dedicated room for all female members. It is also equipped with fitness machines.
Weight-training Room
The weight-training room is equipped with weight-training equipment and fitness machines and a professional trainer is available from Monday to Thursday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm to guide and assist members.
Tennis Courts and Outdoor Volleyball Court
There are four tennis courts out of which two have been converted to interchangeable futsal courts and an outdoor basketball court. The outdoor volleyball court is adjacent to the tennis courts.
Squash Courts
There are two squash available with bleachers outside for viewers to enjoy the game.
Cricket and Football Field
A lush green cricket and football fieldhas three international-standard pitches. Movable goal posts have been placed to play football on the designated days.
Walking/Jogging Track
A 500 meters Walking/Jogging track around the cricket/football field is open to members and non-members.
