JCIA triennial survey of AKUH,K was conducted via video conference from January 28 to February 1, 2013. Based on the findings, the JCI Accreditation Committee has approved an extension of the status of accreditation to the Aga Khan University Hospital for a period of 18 months, ending October 1, 2014.
The JCIA final survey findings report for Aga Khan University Hospital had 19 Partially Met findings and not a single Not Met findings. JCI does not require the preparation of a strategic Improvement Plan (SIP) for Partially Met scores; however, the Joint Commission International encourages us to consider developing a SIP for selected findings.
The JCI Accreditation’s executive leadership has expressed gratitude to the hospital senior leadership and the faculty and staff of AKUH on behalf of the entire team of staff and surveyors for the innovative and constructive manner in which we managed the complexities of the video survey activities. In their letter they have further stated that we have set the bar” very high in our demonstrated commitment to quality and safety.
In the concluding remarks the JCI Executive Director stated that the citizens of Pakistan should be proud that Aga Khan University Hospital continues to focus on raising quality to higher levels. She congratulated the hospital leadership and faculty and staff in maintaining this recognition of our commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis.
The first surveillance audits of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and ISO 2200:2005 Food Safety will be conducted by SGS in the first week of May 2013. In the recertification audits, conducted last year, there were no minor or major non-conformity.
