AKU-ISMC is delighted to announce that the Open Islamicate Texts Initiative, of which Professor Sarah Bowen Savant is a co-Principal Investigator, has received a grant of $800,000 from Mellon Foundation for the development of a digital text production pipeline for Persian and Arabic that will incorporate a wide range of new OCR enhancements. This grant will help to expand the number and range of Arabic and Persian texts that are in machine-readable format, and so greatly aid in research using digital methods.
