The first Clinical Simulation Leadership Programme was delivered in CIME, by the CIME team to a select group on March 8-9. This was in response to demand within our network, as we are recognised leaders within Pakistan. Participants included university and hospital strategic decision makers and the course was constructed to inform their thinking on the planning, designing and operating of new healthcare simulation centres that are springing up around the country. Ten leaders from four organisations participated in this programme: The University of Lahore, Pakistan Air Force, Dow University and Deneb Corporation. The setting was as intimate as is allowed with Covid restrictions, however, for these participants, physical interaction and activity was less important than cognitive engagement, and for two whole days participants were challenged by the different perspectives on simulation based education and associated technical and administrative issues. Change management and combating 'Dynamic Conservatism' was a re-occurring theme. Case studies from different continents informed discussion.
“The Clinical Simulation Leadership Programme was a great learning for me. The Programme gave 360 degree perspective and insights on developing new clinical skill labs. Dr. Charles Docherty and team have made significant efforts to collect valuable experience which could be helpful to aspiring leaders in the simulation world."
Mirza Haris Baig, CEO, Deneb Corp
“Comprehensive and very well designed “Clinical Simulation Leadership Programme" providing a systematic approach to all aspects of Clinical simulation. It provides insight into goal oriented planning and designing of infrastructure according to individual requirements of the institution. Furthermore, it also provides clear information about general and specialized simulation equipment in terms of requirements and procurement, designing clinical training modules, rationalization of staffing, training of personnel and most importantly financial implications including capital and operational costs. Overall it is a very satisfying programme."
Professor Dr Sikander Afzal, Associate Dean and Clinical Director - University of Lahore
As could be expected, the greatly experienced participants were by no means passive and their preconceived ideas didn't easily dispel. But, faced with challenging video evidence, the physical and technical realities of CIME, the lived experience of our simulation experts, and through lively debate and discussion, the so-induced cognitive dissonance moved minds.
This programme will be offered on demand and may be tailored to the specific needs of an individual group or organization. If interested please contact us to find out more.
