Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development, Pakistan in collaboration with Ismaili Civic Pakistan and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS)' Learning Institute, launched a module dedicated to Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability, as a free and open resource in September 2022.
Over the past decade, the effects of climate change have become increasingly pronounced and dangerous, with Pakistan experiencing its worst flooding disaster just earlier this year. Now, education in the area of environment and climate change is more crucial than ever before, that too well before higher education!
Authored by Dr Fozia Parveen (Assistant Professor, AKU-IED), and LUMS students: Sara Hassan and Subhah Khan - the module comprises of an information booklet and an activity booklet. It aims to provide fundamental information and ready-to-use exercises that may be used by both educators and parents in a variety of settings and education levels. The module will be adopted by Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) schools starting with training of trainers workshops for use of the booklets.
This module is the first of many interventions that AKU-IED has planned in the area of climate change education. Visit www.aku.edu/IEDPK-Environment to access a copy of the module comprising of activity and information booklets.
