The Centre for Innovation in Medical Education in collaboration with AKU student body Society for Promoting Innovation in Education (SPIE) developed a series of simulation-based workshops to educate and spread health awareness to the visitors of The Dawood Foundation MagnifiScience Centre (MSC). After the success of the first MagnifiSim series, the second series was offered from September 4, 2022, for four consecutive Sundays.
With a different theme each Sunday, SPIE students under the guidance of CIME staff took to the stage to interact with the audience on the following themes. Theme 1: How to restart the heart – the audience learnt about functioning of the heart and what to do in cardiac emergencies. Theme II: First aid for falls focused on understanding and responding to various conditions of a collapsed person. Theme III: Stop the bleed helped the audience understand the importance of timely control of bleeding. Theme IV: Art for science – it focused on the technique of Moulage and its use in healthcare education.
The series was purposely planned on Sundays so that most of the public could attend these sessions. Each event was an interactive session that included a lecture, hands-on practice, assessments, and fun-filled activities. This not only helped the audience learn the basic lifesaving skills but also debunk a lot of myths that were believed to be true.
