We warmly congratulate AKU-ISMC's Dr Walid Ghali on the publication of two recent works: The Dervish Code and Al-Hindaw.
The Dervish Code is a Sufi novel that captures different places and times. The novel discusses the idea of “path" in Sufism and continuous search for spiritual stability in its various forms. Also, it highlights what is related to this mystical journey in terms of coincidences and cosmic signs that the traveller interprets according to their psychological and spiritual formation, as well as events and life experiences they were exposed to.
Al-Hindaw is a new collection of short stories that complement Dr Ghali's project: A Biography of the Desert. The first part, entitled The Guard of the Well, was released last year. Al-Hindaw is one of the ancient villages in the Egyptian oases. The village was mentioned in the Ibn Mammati's Laws and in Tuhfat Al-Irshad. The collection showcases life in oases, which resembles life in most villages. The first and second parts of the collection present a place that many people do not know about.
