AKU’s Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) has launched an automated solution for seamless end-to-end research administration and compliance which will revolutionize grant lifecycle management for both researchers and administrators. The Pure Grant Management System promises to streamline grant administration procedures for heightened efficiency and transparency. This implementation was made possible by the diligent efforts of 32 grant administration teams, who successfully migrated all active grants into the Pure software with the help of the respective regional Research Office staff. Consequently, all current and future approvals for extramural research grants will now be exclusively processed within Pure.
A comprehensive suite of features, Pure simplifies complex administrative processes, ensuring efficient and transparent award management from proposal submission to project completion. With Pure, researchers, administrators, and support units can now collaborate and interact within the platform, enabling seamless information sharing, real-time updates, and document exchange. According to the project coordinator Muhammad Hayat, “these features will foster transparency, minimize delays, and improve overall project coordination”.
The system selection and implementation was led by Irfan Haji, who brought together research stakeholders from AKU campuses in Pakistan, East Africa and the UK to achieve this feat. According to Irfan, Pure has created a new pathway for research administration at AKU.
“With Pure, we aim to simplify the path from data to insight, helping researchers and administrators to navigate the grant management process more efficiently and ensuring that AKU continues to lead the way in research excellence,” he said.
Following the successful implementation of PURE, the Research Office will host a conference to train grant administration teams from Pakistan, Kenya and the UK to ensure that the system is seamlessly integrated within AKU’s operations.
