Consultant Family Physician, Family Medicine

Introduction

AKU- Department of Family Medicine is seeking a Consultant Family Physician to provide patient-centered and evidence-based care in executive clinics, mentor family medicine residents and contribute to scholarly output in primary care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-determined clinical service especially in executive clinics with the focus of the clinical service being health promotion, wellness checks and curative service
  • Attend to emergency cases as and when required
  • Develop a clinical team which will include residents/interns with assigned responsibilities
  • Prepare a schedule of regular clinical teaching activity
  • Implement the educational programme in the Department of Family Medicine including offering scholarly activities in the department and outreach centers, participating in the selection of residents, ensuring formative assessment of residents/interns in the department and participating in departmental examinations
  • Teach and supervise undergraduate medical students rotating in the Department of Family Medicine

Requirements

  • Must have a Master of Medicine in Family Medicine or its equivalent
  • Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board as a Specialist
  • Should have a minimum academic position of Senior Instructor
  • Should be a good role model with excellent interpersonal, innovative and managerial skills
  • Should have research interest and competence
