Introduction

Department of Oncology at The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi is a patient centered comprehensive state-of-the-art cancer management facility. The main objective of the Department is to provide first class leading edge cancer care services.

Radiation Oncology section at Aga Khan University Hospital is equipped with 4 Varian Medical Linear accelerators, 1 HDR Brachytherapy After loader, 1 Varian Simulator, Mold Room and a PET-CT Simulator. 

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of 2 years Trainee Radiation Therapy Technologist. The two years Trainee Radiation Therapy Technologist certificate program is designed to produce highly trained personnel who can make a direct contribution to the improvement of health care through better radiation therapy practices. The certificate program consists of Didactic courses and Clinical hands-on experience related to Radiation Therapy delivery specialty.

Responsibilities

The program is designed to provide proficiency in the following:

  • Understand the entire Radiotherapy process
  • Understand patient simulation setup and use of various immobilization devices
  • External beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy and Special Procedures in RT
  • Performs 3D conformal radiotherapy and intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT/VMAT) dose calculations using treatment planning system
  • Perform Quality Controls on Linear accelerators, Radiotherapy simulator and Brachytherapy machine
  • Radiation Protection
  • Compliance with organizational policies and standards of quality care

Requirements

You must possess:

  • B.Sc. or 4-years B.S. degree from an HEC recognized university.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate in a team

Full time employment may be offered upon successful completion of the traineeship program and subject availability of vacant position(s).
