The Department of Medicine at The Aga Khan University Hospital, comprises of independent sections of Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, and Pulmonary & Critical Care. The Department has over 70+ full-time Faculty with a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, CITRIC Health Data Science Centre in the Department of Medicine.

Responsibilities

You will lead advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) modelling for public health programs, including estimating the burden of disease in Pakistan. This role involves creating and teaching courses on health data science and modelling for public health professionals and master's students. The candidate will contribute to research projects and seek competitive grants to support the department's research projects. This position combines teaching, research and leadership to apply academic knowledge to real-world public health challenges.

Requirements

You should have:
  • a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field
  • at least 5-7 years of experience in data science or related fields
  • minimum 5 years of post-PhD teaching experience at an HEC-recognized university, with a proven history of developing and delivering data science and/or AI modeling courses
  • extensive experience in advanced AI modeling for public health programs
  • significant research experience, with a track record of leading or contributing to notable research projects in academic or public health institutions
  • experience in writing and securing competitive research grants from national and international funding bodies
  • a minimum of 10 research publications, with at least 4 published in the last 5 years in HEC-recognized journals
  • proven experience in applying AI modeling to public health or development sectors
  • a strong teaching background, with a focus on data science and AI modeling at the graduate level, including curriculum development experience
  • an established research profile, with a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • a history of securing competitive research grant
  • professional certifications or affiliations with relevant public health or data science organizations.
