OFFICE OF THE PROVOST
The world needs leaders to build connections and expand collective knowledge to confront humanity's greatest challenges. For over 40 years, the Aga Khan University (AKU) has educated such leaders.
Guided by the vision of our Founder and Chancellor, His Highness, the Aga Khan, AKU has grown to be a multi-campus, multi-country university across Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and the United Kingdom. It provides high-quality opportunities for education, scholarship, research with local and regional relevance to global impact.
AKU provides meritorious students from diverse backgrounds with the education and support to become the leaders of tomorrow. Our graduates are producing waves of change in policy and practice across domains of medicine, nursing, and education in the region and around the world. AKU has now expanded programs to humanities, culture, media, social sciences and environment.
AKU provides graduate research programs in translational innovation, whether in the development of cell and gene therapies or the integration of data systems for a learning health system. But it has not lost sight of its core values of socially relevant research, research implementation, and knowledge mobilization to address challenges from child and maternal health to climate change resilience and adaptation.
To deliver and advance its transcendent vision, AKU recruits exceptional faculty and staff who are committed to its values of impact, quality, relevance and access. AKU faculty partners with leading researchers, educators and decision-makers locally and internationally.
Addressing the challenges of health, education, and climate adaptation in the complex geographies AKU serves may be a daunting task. However, as has been made clear to me, in these regions, if not us, then who?
If you resonate with our mission and want to work with optimism, create possibilities and serve communities, there is likely a way for you to join us. Together, let’s raise the quality of life for all.
