Mr Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar
Mr Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar commenced his legal practice in 1993 and was appointed as a judge of the Sindh High Court in August 2013. He is a distinguished legal professional with extensive experience in advocacy, advisory services, and judicial matters. He holds an LL.B. from S.M. Law Government College, Karachi, along with qualifications in commerce and pre-engineering reflecting a solid academic foundation that complements his extensive legal career. Since his elevation to the bench till date, Justice Ghaffar has decided around 27,000 cases.
Justice Ghaffar has had an extensive legal career spanning taxation advisory, legal representation, and commercial law. He has provided expert counsel on complex taxation matters, including Customs, Federal Excise, Sales Tax, and Income Tax, for both local and multinational corporations in Pakistan and abroad. Many of his cases have resulted in landmark judgments reported in prominent legal journals. His expertise also extends to guiding clients on commercial contracts, agreements, energy sector issues, property-related disputes, logistics, shipping, and intellectual property, representing clients in matters related to trademarks and copyrights.
In addition to his legal practice, Justice Ghaffar has actively engaged in regulatory and advisory roles. He served as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement and held leadership positions in the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, including Vice Chairman and Senior Vice Chairman of various committees addressing taxation, intellectual property rights, and legal affairs. Presently he is a member of the Administration Committee of High Court of Sindh and is the Chairman of the Purchase Committee; Chairman of the Promotion Committee; Chairman of Selection Board for Appointment of officers in Grade 7 to Grade 15; member of the Automation and Court Technologies Committee of the High Court and also represents the Sindh High Court in “National Judicial Automation Committee-NJAC constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan.
