Anne Gitere is a Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience, specializing in the assessment and management of mental health challenges through evidence-based interventions such as psychotherapy and mediation. Holding a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nairobi, along with accreditation in Mediation from the Society of Mediators, London, Anne is well-equipped to address a wide range of psychological concerns.
Anne's impactful career spans the public sector, where she has been instrumental in the prevention, promotion, and care of individuals facing various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, work-related stress, and caregiver therapy. Notably, she played a pivotal role in establishing the first counselling unit within the Nairobi City County Government, demonstrating her commitment to expanding mental health services within the community.
During her tenure, Anne has actively contributed to shaping mental health policies and practices, participating in curriculum reviews for clinical psychology and psychiatry programs at the University of Nairobi, as well as policy development within the Nairobi City County Government.
Currently, Anne holds a leadership role as the head of Mental Health in Boroughs, Administration, and the Public Service Sector within the Nairobi City County Government, where she continues to drive positive change and promote mental well-being across diverse settings.
Anne's dedication to advancing mental health extends beyond her clinical work. As a Student Fellow at the Brain and Mind Institute, she contributes to groundbreaking research under the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative (DAC) project, focusing on the cultural adaptation and validation of cognitive tests and biomarkers for individuals with dementia (AD-DETECT). Her multifaceted expertise and unwavering commitment make her a valuable asset in the field of mental health advocacy and research.
