Dr. Anne Nyambura Njogu is a distinguished scholar holding a Ph.D. in Nursing from Central South University, Changsha, China, specializing in maternal child health. With a Master's and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hunan Normal University, China, Anne brings a rich tapestry of knowledge and experience to the realms of nursing, teaching, research, and leadership.
A prolific academic, Anne has authored four peer-reviewed scientific publications, showcasing her commitment to advancing knowledge in her field. Her research interests are expansive, encompassing mental health, a healthy brain, aging, and longevity.
Throughout her illustrious career, Anne has achieved significant milestones, including the establishment of the Master of Science Programme in Genetic Nursing at Central South University. She has also orchestrated academic seminars for postgraduate students at the same institution, contributing to the academic enrichment of future nursing professionals.
Anne's practical experience extends to her roles as a nurse and team leader in the Hunan Provincial People's Hospital. Additionally, she serves as a part-time lecturer at Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University, China. Her teaching and research interests encompass a diverse range, from maternal psychology and women's reproductive health to global health, evidence-based healthcare, chronic diseases, community engagement, health and sustainability, interventions for patient self-management/vulnerable populations, and adult nursing.
A strong advocate for evidence-based practices, Anne not only preaches but practices mindfulness and self-compassion. These practices bring peace and calmness to her life, grounding her in the present moment. She extends this passion to guide others in mindfulness exercises, equipping them with skills to manage the stress and pressure of life.
Currently, at the Brain & Mind Institute, Anne spearheads the Cultural Adaptation and Validation of Cognitive Tests, Functions, Assessments, and Biomarkers in People with Dementia (AD-DETECT Kenya) project. In this pivotal role, she oversees and manages research trials from initiation to completion, ensuring strict adherence to protocols, timelines, and regulatory requirements, all while upholding the highest standards of research integrity. Anne is not just a researcher; she is a trailblazer in nursing academia and a compassionate guide in the pursuit of mental well-being.
