Education and Training
The Brain and Mind Institute works in broad partnerships and in accordance with a strategic framework to develop academic courses and programmes addressing a wide range of issues in mental health and neurosciences.
Areas of focus include:
Academic neuroscience and relevant curriculum development
Specialized medical and nursing education in brain and mind health
Undergraduate and graduate integration of mental health content in relevant courses
PhD supervision and post-doctoral fellow placements
Continuing AKU education programs and in situ health sector training
Education Programmes
The Institute, in collaboration with AKU's Medical Colleges, Schools of Nursing and Midwifery and other partners, is developing a range of undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programmes. Community-based programmes are also a major area of focus, as are programmes that leverage digital platforms to provide access to knowledge and services, especially to individuals and communities at risk.
Featured Programme
The Institute is working with both Schools of Nursing and Midwifery at AKU to introduce a Masters of Mental Health Nursing that is aligned across campuses so as to facilitate integrated learning opportunities for students in various locations. A planning committee is working on the development of this programme.
