The Centre, under the leadership of Prof Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta as the Founding Chair, has over years earned various accolades due to its excellence in public health research as well clinical sciences. It serves as a platform for exchange of ideas, development of best research and training programmes to serve the needs of the developing countries. It also provides a platform for academic and research activities related to several entities and contributing departments as partners along with government departments as collaborators at provincial level and national levels.
The Centre’s Outreach and Research Programme has 13 community-based field site offices and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. It employs over 1,300 staff and manages an overall grant portfolio exceeding US $74 Million in 58 different active research projects. The Centre has a nutritional research laboratory as well as an infectious disease research laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects.
