Convocation 2016

Aga Khan University held its ​Convocation ceremony in Kenya on Wednesday, February 10 at the Aga Khan Pavilion and Complex in Nairobi.

In his speech, the ceremony’s Chief Guest, the Honourable Dr Fred Okengo Matiangi, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology acknowledged the role of country’s development partners in supporting the efforts of providing quality education to Kenyan citizens. He also spoke on the need of quality university education with a focus on empowering students for real-world challenges they will face after graduation.

During the ceremony, 51 students received their degrees: 32 Bachelor of Science in Nursing and 19 Master of Medicine degrees.​

In his welcome remarks, AKU President Mr Firoz Rasul underscored the role of civil society organisations, saying that a vibrant civil society is a sign of national strength and maturity. He reminded the graduands to see themselves as agents of change, charged with identifying crucial problems and developing evidence-based solutions.​​
