Convocation 2015
The University honoured 412 graduates at its 28th Convocation ceremony, held on Saturday, November 28. Dr Ruth Pfau honoured the occasion as Chief Guest.
This year the School of Nursing and Midwifery graduated a total of 233 nurses, of which 21 received Master of Science in Nursing and 212 Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees.
The Medical College awarded degrees to 135 graduates, including two graduates received Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences, 16 Master of Science, four Master of Health Professions Education degree and 96 Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees. In addition, Advanced Diplomas were also awarded to 17 graduates.
The Institute for Educational Development conferred one Doctor of Philosophy in Education, 31 Master of Education degrees and 12 Advanced Diploma in Education.
Valedictorian Ambreen Aziz Sonawalla, MBBS programme addressed the graduands.
The high achievers were also recognized. Amna Qasim of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme received the Best Graduate Award for achieving the highest aggregate score in the Certifying Examinations throughout the five-year programme leading to the MBBS degree. Afsheen d/o Amir Ali Hirani was the recipient of the Best Graduate Award in the School of Nursing and Midwifery for achieving the highest CGPA among the graduating classes in the BScN and Post-RN BScN Programmes, having a CGPA greater than 3.5.
As is tradition at Aga Khan University Convocation, the University took time to recognize the distinguished service and achievements of faculty members. Professor Abdou Filali-Ansary was conferred with the title Professor Emeritus, while Dr Muhammad Memon was conferred The University Award of Excellence in Education.
