Senior Thesis

The Senior Thesis allows students to research and present a specific area related to their major, identifying factors that help and hinder, and drawing on possible solutions to identified solutions and where more in-depth study is needed. This is supported by several research methodology courses. The research can be undertaken in the final summer of their undergraduate degree.

Depending on the area of inquiry, the research method will be designed and implemented. This can include research in a science laboratory, via ‘desk study’ reviewing literature, through ethnography in the field, as a participant-observer in a community setting, and/or using interviews and/or focus groups to cite a few of the common approaches. The outcome of this would not necessarily be presented through a traditional piece of writing but would be true to the register, grammar and form of the field of study.
