​Early child development is all about what happens – or doesn’t happen – to children in the earliest years of their lives. The early years (0-8 years) are a rapid period of human development. 

The initial years of early childhood education and development (ECED) are critical for children’s personal, social, emotional, moral, intellectual, and physical development.  Although individual children develop at their own pace; children generally progress through an identifiable sequence of developmental growth and change. If children receive the best start in their earliest years of life, they are more likely to have better outcomes later in life in terms of their health, language development, ability to learn, their behavior, and productive contribution to their families and society.
