Educational Leadership and Policy
In recent years there has been a dramatic surge of studies on leadership in education and its role in developing schools as learning communities along with considerable analysis of leadership role curriculum planning, promoting culture of quality teaching and learning in schools, change management, institutional capacity building and policy analysis, formulation and implementation.
The power of existing and emerging leadership theories needs to be judged by their relevance to policy and practice in education in developing countries. Thus, critical understanding of the contested nature of leadership in education and its connection with the larger socio-political, cultural and historical contexts and issues would require problematizing the notion of leadership and associated concepts by examining various influences of leadership on educational processes, systems, structures, and policy.
