Years 1 and 2: Foundation and Biomedical Courses

The Foundational courses will bridge the gap between the student’s prior experiences with new knowledge and skills considered fundamental to a student’s university experience. Biomedical Courses that are necessary for understanding the human body and functions in health will be taught in Phase I.

Year 3 and 4: Understanding and Recognizing Dysfunction and Disease

Enable students to integrate foundational knowledge gained in the first two years with early clinical and community experiences.

Years 5 and 6: Managing Disease Holistically

The fifth and sixth years provide opportunities for increased responsibility in patient care under supervision.

Facilitate students’ acquisition of a range of terminal competencies in clinical and non-clinical areas, including research. The levels of competencies to be achieved are based on a realistic consideration of the roles and responsibilities of interns working under conditions that meet minimum acceptable standards of care and supervision.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be required to undertake one year of medical internship before they can be licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) to practice in Kenya.
