Current areas of teaching
Professor Macharia teaches residents in the field of paediatric haematology and oncology. This is mplemented through bed side teachings during rounds and scheduled fortnightly sessions structured to meet needs of junior and senior residents respectively. Small group formal classroom sessions facilitated under scheduled calendar. He takes residents one-on-one for skills, professional character and knowledge development during Haemato-oncology rotations. He trains in research skills development via supervision of residents’ dissertations and is involved in work-based formative as well as formal summative assessments.
