Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology! I am very proud of our department and its key role in the overall mission of the Aga Khan University Medical College, East Africa and the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya.
We are a diverse community of women’s health care professionals who partner with our patients to deliver world-class, evidence-based comprehensive care to women across their lifespan. We also lead cutting-edge research, educate the health leaders of tomorrow, and champion women’s wellness in the community and the world in a highly collaborative environment.
Our faculty members, trained locally and internationally, are strongly committed to education and mentorship at all levels (postgraduate trainees, continuing medical education, and allied health professionals). Our residency training programs have an excellent reputation for providing a wide range of clinical experiences as well as exposure to research methodology and training.
The faculty is committed to training the next generation of academic generalists, sub-specialists and physician-scientists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Our Obstetrics and Gynaecology residents have an excellent track record of either becoming established in very desirable practices or entering top quality subspecialty fellowships in top-notch academic medical centres.
Our faculty are involved in a wide variety of clinical, translational and population health research programs. Our graduates are prepared to provide the highest quality care to women and to excel in clinical, translational and population health research.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is dedicated to continued excellence and growth as we carry out our missions of education, research, clinical care, advocacy, and community service.
