Cancer Registry
The Aga Khan University Cancer Registry is a hospital-based registry that was established on January 01, 2009. This registry serves as the foundation for:
• measuring the cancer burden in AKUH
• comprehensive cancer control efforts
• health disparities
• progressing prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
• supporting a wide variety of cancer-related research
Our Goal
The purpose and ultimate goal of AKU-CR is to collect, maintain, and disseminate the highest quality cancer data that will contribute towards cancer prevention and control—improving diagnoses, patient care, treatment, survival, and quality of life for all cancer patients.
What We Report
Our registry focuses on various tumor types to provide an in-depth understanding of cancer trends and outcomes. Reportable tumors include:
• Malignant Tumors - All sites
• In-Situ Tumors - All sites
• Benign and Tumor of Uncertain Behavior - Brain and spinal cord
Data Management
At AKUH, the clinical aspects of the Cancer Registry are overseen by the AKUH Cancer Committee, ensuring high standards in data quality and clinical relevance. Our registry data is securely entered into a sophisticated, US-based software system designed for comprehensive cancer data management.
