Dr. Naureen Mushtaq

Chair of cancer registry AKUH

Cancer is the leading cause of mortality, causing 10 million deaths in 2020. With the number of people impacted by cancer projected to increase, better-integrated cancer care is needed. Evidence suggests that Hospital-Based Cancer Registries (HBCRs) that collect administrative and clinical data could improve integrated and equitable evidence-based care. The data from AKUH cancer registry provides you with accurate and relevant clinical information essential for any research therefore can surely help in improving the outcome and survival of cancer patients. Investment in HBCR is needed for a better future and quality of care for cancer. AKU cancer registry is unique with qualified and highly efficient registrars working constantly to accurately capture data. They have served to share this data not only within the campus for research, but also with national ministries to plan and execute efficient cancer control programs. I congratulate our team on their dedicated work and their constant strive to serve.
