The Aga Khan University Child Development and Rehabilitation Center is for children with developmental, behavioral, occupational and speech challenges.
Our team assists children facing developmental delays (gross and fine motor skills), learning difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. The expert therapists work with these children to help them acquire the essential skills needed to lead a complete and independent life.
CDRCs often provide assessments to identify developmental delays, behavioral, occupational and speech challenges in children. Multidisciplinary teams of paediatricians, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists collaborate to assess a child's development.

Hyderabad
In March, a Paediatric Development Clinic was inaugurated at AKMCC in Hyderabad and is conducted every three months by Dr. Sidra Kaleem. We run clinics four times a week at the Aga Khan Maternal and Childcare Center in Hyderabad. As of November, more clinics were added four days a week, with two specialist therapists.
Treatment and Intervention
After the assessment, the CDRC tailors treatment plans for the child's needs. Treatment may involve therapeutic interventions, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral therapy.
Early intervention is a key focus, as addressing challenges at an early age can have a significant impact on a child's development.
Behavioural Support
The CDRC may offer behavioral interventions and counseling to address issues like ADHD or conduct disorders. Behavioral support can include strategies for parents and caregivers to manage and cope with challenging behaviors effectively.
Parental Guidance and Education
The CDRC often involves parents and caregivers in the interventions, providing guidance and education on how to support their child's development at home. Parental involvement is crucial for the continuity of care and to reinforce therapeutic strategies outside the clinical setting.
Overall, Child Development and Rehabilitation Centers play a vital role in promoting the optimal development and well-being of children facing a range of challenges, contributing to their integration into society and improved quality of life.
