The Paediatric Boot Camp was conducted by the Department of Paediatrics & Child Health in collaboration with CIME to provide simulation-based hands-on training to improve novice airway providers’ skills and confidence in a challenging but safe learning environment. A total of 17 paediatric residents, fellows and nurses participated.
High fidelity simulation scenarios were included in this camp such as Intubating a neonate with a seizure disorder, displaced endotracheal/tracheostomy tube, upper airway obstruction, and anterior mediastinal mass-difficult airway anticipation. These highly realistic scenarios helped prepare learners to deal with airway management cases in high-pressure, high-risk environments.
We aim to reach many more staff through a series of boot camps, using the “the train to success” concept with repetitive practice.
