Bakari S. Machumu, a participant of the inaugural Executive Masters in Media Leadership and Innovation programme (EMMLI) offered by the Graduate School of Media and Communications has been appointed as the Managing Director of Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) in Tanzania.
In a statement released by Nation Media Group's Group CEO, Stephen Gitagama, Bakari will be responsible for the overall leadership and will lead the strategic efforts to drive the digital transformation agenda and growth, and diversify into new areas of future media.
Bakari is a seasoned leader with over 20 years' experience leading in business and media strategy. As the Executive Editor of MCL, he spearheaded their digital transformation agenda, making it “the first newsroom to embrace convergence in Tanzania in April 2017", read the statement.
