​For Mary Wairimu, affectionately known by her family and friends as ‘Nimo’, a simple hospital stay ignited a passion to study nursing. After fracturing her arm, Nimo encountered a compassionate nurse whose kindness and dedication inspired her to dedicate her academic career to healthcare.

Now a first-year nursing student at the Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Mary recounts the pivotal moment that shaped her path: "I vividly remember the nurse who cared for me. I wanted to find a meaningful career that allowed me to make a positive impact on the world.” Mary added. She wants to be remembered as a nurse who not only cared deeply but also helped drive meaningful change.
