​​​Ment​al Health

​The Mental Health stream at SONAM comprises of a group of faculty members working to promote quality education, service and research in the domain of mental health nursing by working on various issues related to it pertinent in Pakistan. Our key areas of research include but are not limited to:

  • Depression amongst women,
  • Community mental health services,
  • Stress among adolescents
  • Mindfulness in students, to name a few.​

  • Provide a platform to mental health nurses to exchange their experiences, clinical and research work with group;

  • Enhance knowledge and skills among faculty, nursing staff and nursing students;

  • Collaborate with Dean, AKU-SONAM and CNO, AKUH about the committee activities;

  • Based on need assessment, organize mental health talks, presentations and workshops in collaboration with the Continuing Professional Education Development committee;

  • Strengthen evidence based practices in clinical setting via existing research evidence; 

  • Promote research in the area of mental health (in-patient, out-patient and community based).

  • Maintain a record of the committee's activities. ​
