As a response to COVID-19, The Tele-ICU Initiative at The Aga Khan University started a free of cost simulated-based training programme from October 2020 and to date, has organized 20 workshops that trained 600+ critical care physicians and nurses from 30+ cities, representing 78 medical institutions. Serving critically ill patients in HDUs and ICUs and carrying our pledge to enhance the capacity of the healthcare sector of the country.
This two-day workshop has helped healthcare workers use evidence-based approaches in the handling and management of not only critical cases of COVID-19 but all patients in intensive care units (ICU). The modules are also easily adaptable to similar settings across low and middle-income countries and can potentially transform the future of ICU care.
The workshop proved to be a successful initiative which is evident from one of our workshop's graduates who said:
“In this workshop, we got the chance to get a better understanding of ventilator settings, acute respiratory management & COVID-19 management. The best thing is I am able to share this knowledge with others as well"
This much-needed initiative is in collaboration with Health Departments of Sindh, KPK, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan; Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, and Health Services Academy and supported by Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited.
