The grant writers’ positions will be based at the Research Office within AKU’s Medical College in East Africa. The college is made up of 11 academic departments with focus on clinical, biomedical and population health sciences. The major aims of the college are to produce health professional leaders through unique training programmes, building strong research programmes, supporting best practice in the delivery of health services, and contributing to the broader community through strategic partnerships regionally and globally.
To enhance its research portfolio and and contribute to the broader vision of the University, the Research Office of Medical College-East Africa seeks to engage and retain the services of qualified consultant grant writers in the fields of:
• Clinical Research
• Diagnostics/ Pathology
• Biomedical Sciences
• Public/Population Health Research
• Health systems/ Health Policy
The successful consultant grant writers shall demonstrate a high level of expertise in chosen key areas of focus and will work with Departments of the Medical College, to achieve the following:
• Researching potential funding sources to find opportunities that align with the department’s goals;
• Working with faculty in departments to write compelling and persuasive grant proposals as well as preparing relevant supporting documentation;
• Working closely with faculty and other stakeholders to ensure that the proposals accurately reflects the department’s goals and objectives;
• Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals;
• Preparing and maintaining records and reports related to grant opportunities;
• Understanding funder and AKU’s grant and research regulations governing the relevant fields in which they work.
