Admissions Open for the Intra-Disciplinary Route
Admissions are currently open for candidates applying with intra-disciplinary qualifications. The last date for submission of applications is March 19, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have at least two-years of full-time teaching/research/leadership / educational development experience and have 18 years of qualification in “Education” or intra-disciplinary field including a MS/MPhil or equivalent degree with the course and research work based on a minimum of 30 credits after 16 years of an undergraduate degree. A minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or First Division – 60% (in the Annual System) / Equivalent degree is required.
For candidates applying with an intra-disciplinary degree, the admission committee must be satisfied that the candidates' knowledge of the primary area (level 7) has sufficiently prepared them to undertake the doctoral programme in Education. The Committee may recommend taking a few additional courses prior to the start of the programme. Candidates following this route will be offered conditional admission.
The condition will be that they take 2-3 courses (6-9CH) prior to commencing their PhD programme The exact number and type of courses will be decided by the Admissions Committee based on the candidate’s profile.
Depending on the candidate’s background, s/he may also be required to spend structured time in an educational setting during the first year of their studies. The structured time will be during the first year of the programme. The length can vary from 3 months to 6 months, depending on the background of the candidate.
In cases of ambiguity, applicants may be required to submit written justification explaining the relevance of their qualification to doctoral study in Education.
The University may request for additional documents to better understand and evaluate applicant’s eligibility as per University and regulatory body requirements.
Candidates applying with disciplines other than Education or with foreign qualifications are required to provide 18 years of equivalence in Education from HEC.
