​Derick Kiplagat
Research Assistant

Derick works under the Uzima Data Science Project on mental health disorders among university students. In this role, he is responsible for scheduling sensitization appointments, recording student details in the study database, conducting fieldwork research, and implementing data validation measures to ensure accuracy and prevent duplicate participation.

Derick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kenyatta University. His experience includes working as an Enumerator for the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) on population data collection and as a Clerk for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), where he was involved in voter data collection. Additionally, he completed a three-month internship at BMI, supporting brain health assessments under the GBHI project before transitioning into their current research role.

Passionate about continuous learning, Derick is motivated by the opportunity to develop new skills and expand his research expertise. He has a strong interest in problem-solving, social engagement, and advancing research. Derick is also a member of the Elsevier Research Academy, furthering his commitment to professional growth and knowledge-sharing.​
