School on Neuropsychopharmacology of Stress and Substance Use Disorders

Building capacity for Neuropsychopharmacology in the areas of substance use and trauma

The African College of Neuropsychopharmacology (AfCNP) is dedicated to delivering evidence-based psychopharmacology information to healthcare practitioners, trainees, service users, and stakeholders across Africa. Our membership comprises scientists from diverse neuroscience disciplines, including behavioral pharmacology, clinical psychopharmacology, and molecular biology, among others.

Mission and Objectives

The AfCNP focuses on two primary pillars: research and education. In research, we foster interdisciplinary collaboration to advance neuroscience applications in studying and treating mental illnesses. Educationally, we inspire and mentor young scientists to pursue careers in neuropsychopharmacology while promoting accurate information dissemination on psychiatric disorders and treatments.

Neuropsychopharmacology school initiative

The Neuropsychopharmacology School represents a pivotal initiative aimed at enhancing research capabilities in Africa. This project addresses the critical need for local expertise and the development of region-specific therapeutic solutions. In collaboration with the AfCNP, the school offers advanced didactic training for junior to mid-level African faculty, empowering them to establish independent research programs.
