Jane Njeri Maina
Research Assistant
Jane Njeri Maina is an early-career research scientist with a background in nutrition, food science, and public health. She holds a bachelor’s degree in food science and nutrition from the University of Eldoret and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in the same field at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. A certified nutritionist, she is registered with the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI).
With prior experience at KEMRI’s Centre for Public Health Research, Njeri has actively contributed to various research activities, including community engagement, participant recruitment, data collection and management, dissemination of research findings, and manuscript writing.
She has supported key projects such as the evaluation of the Food for Education School Feeding Program, the Association Between Musculoskeletal Injury and Mental Health Issues Among Athletes survey, and the Positive Deviance Hearth Model in Bomet County.
Her research interests focus on mental health, maternal, infant and young child nutrition, as well as food science and technology. She is passionate about developing evidence-based interventions and policies, advancing scientific knowledge and promoting knowledge management in research to improve public health outcomes.
Currently, Njeri serves as a Research Assistant for the UZIMA-DS (UtiliZe Health Information for Meaningful Impact in East Africa through Data Science) study. In this role, she is responsible for participant recruitment and data collection while expanding her expertise in public health and health systems research.
