Dr Rukhsana Zuberi
Dr Zuberi represents the highest order as a longstanding contributor to the education of the University’s Medical College and School of Nursing students.
She joined AKU in 1986 as an assistant professor in the Community Health Sciences programme. In 2003, she became a professor of family medicine and in 2005 was promoted to the rank of Chair, Department of Educational Development and the Associate Dean, Education, in the Faculty of Health Sciences. During the last 23 years she has initiated a number of new education programmes at AKU, such as residency programme in family medicine, the advanced diploma in health professions education and continues to present new programmes of study for the University to consider. Her most important contribution has been curricular change, moving to a horizontally and vertically integrated MBBS curriculum and integrated assessment system for which she is known nationally. She has published numerous papers in national and international journals and is on the editorial board of Medical Education. In addition to being an international authority in education Dr Zuberi has been described as a “gifted teacher”.
Dr Zuberi holds an MBBS degree from Punjab University and a Master of Health Professions Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons – Pakistan.
