Dr Enam is the Director of the ​AKU's Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research. He is a US Board-certified neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery. He previously served as the chair of the Department of Surgery at the Aga Khan University, Karachi. With a PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University and over 300 manuscripts, he is actively involved in clinical and basic science research in cellular and molecular neuroscience and neuro-oncology. Dr Enam is also the Founding President of the Pakistan Society of Basic and Applied Neuroscience, Pakistan Society of Neuro-Oncology and a member of the executive committee of the leading brain tumour ​consortium of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons. ​​Based on his contributions to medicine and research, he has been awarded several accolades including Sitara-e-Imtiaz, the third-highest civilian award by the Government of Pakistan. ​
