​​Our Facility & Services

The CRU is located on the 9th floor of Doctor’s Park, adjacent to Aga Khan University Hospital-Nairobi and Aga Khan University Centre along 3rd Parklands Avenue in Nairobi, Kenya. 

The 4000 sq.ft. Unit was designed and equipped for the conduct of Phase 1-3 clinical trials.  The facility comprises of phlebotomy and triage suite, consultation rooms (examination, informed consenting, etc.), investigational product (IP) treatment suite, research pharmacy, research laboratory, research medical records and administrative offices. 

The CRU is a core facility of Aga Khan University Cancer Center (AKU-CC), providing patient-centred and evidence-based care in line with AKU’s clinical and translational research mission. The CRU aims to conduct therapeutic clinical trials, enrolling participants from the population served and offering innovative treatment options to better understand clinical activity and side effect profiles specific to our population.

The Unit manages all aspects of clinical trial development and implementation from review, approval, and activation through maintenance and close-out in accordance with ICH-GCP, study, regulatory authority, and ethics requirements:
