It is soon time for AKU's 9th Surgical Conference: an annual event that has gotten bigger and better every year, and I am sure this year will be no exception. It is a seminal conference tackling relevant surgical topics and healthcare challenges, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The theme for this year, Surgery in the Digital Age, explores a facet critical to our evolution and adaptability. Using technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence to further our goals is truly the need of the hour. Bringing together thought leaders and innovators from around the world under one platform is the perfect recipe for collaboration, discourse, and impactful outcomes. Through such efforts, I am confident that we will be able to adapt, develop and implement tech that will make a real difference in the lives of our patients and those who seek to treat them. 

I am grateful for the dedication and passion with which the organizing committee and the entire team, under the able leadership of Dr Saleem Islam, execute the AASC. I look forward to the knowledge and exchange the 9th Surgical Conference will develop and foster.
