Primary objective:
- To describe the prevalence and distribution of pneumococcal serotypes in the nasopharynx of children in rural Matiari, Sindh after a switch from PCV10 to PCV13 in Pakistan’s Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI).
Secondary objectives:
To compare current prevalence and distribution of PCV13 serotype pneumococcus with the serotype distribution prior to the introduction of PCV13 in the same geographical location.
To describe the predictors of PCV13 serotype pneumococcal carriage in the nasopharynx of children in rural Matiari, Sindh.
To determine factors influencing parental perceptions regarding vaccination in children.
To describe serotype specific antimicrobial resistance patterns of pneumococcus isolated from nasopharynx of children, after introduction of PCV13 in a rural population in Pakistan.
