Abdul Basit

Senior Manager, Strategy​

Abdul Basit is Senior Manager, Strategy in the Office of the Provost. He is responsible for leading and supporting various strategic initiatives for the academy as well as planning and executing various academic priorities through multi-stakeholder engagement within and outside the academy. He also assists in the development of key governance materials by providing necessary analysis and insight.

Basit works closely with the Provost and Regional Vice Provost for Asia and the UK to develop a vision, strategy, partnerships, and funding plan to support the development of new academic programmes and governance of existing programmes in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United Kingdom. Basit has coordinated significant activities in the Office of the Provost including the University Review Task Force, Strategic Planning Review, and Planning for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Karachi.

Basit has over 18 years of diversified experience in the areas of planning and strategy. In his previous role as a Senior Manager in the Office of Vice President Finance at AKU, Basit led the first-ever Economic Impact Study of AKU in Pakistan and the FMIC in Afghanistan.

Basit has Masters’ Degrees in Business Administration and Economics from the Institute of Business Management, Karachi and the University of Karachi respectively.
