Project Assistant​

Brian Yatibu currently serves as a Project Assistant on the NeuroGAP-Psychosis II study at BMI, where he plays a pivotal role in supporting neuropsychiatric research aimed at understanding psychosis and genetic risk factors. His responsibilities include coordinating research activities, ensuring data quality and compliance, and contributing to study reporting and audits.​

Brian is a dedicated mental health professional with a bachelor’s degree in medical psychology from Moi University. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health management at Kenyatta University.

With a solid background in clinical research and leadership, Brian has significantly contributed to the Clinical and Biomarker-Based Trajectories of Psychosis-Risk Population in Kenya study, where he served as both a Clinical Research Assistant and Team Lead. In his leadership role, he supervised clinical data collection, trained research assistants, coordinated team assignments, and ensured high standards of data accuracy and participant care. Additionally, he monitored study progress, managed participant recruitment, and facilitated effective communication across the study team.

As a Research Assistant, Brian conducted comprehensive participant assessments using psychiatric tools such as PSYCHS, SCID, PHQ-9, and TAD7 to evaluate early psychosis indicators. His responsibilities also included administering informed consent, conducting EEG tests, preparing participants for MRI scans, collecting samples for cortisol and DNA analysis, and entering data into REDCap. Proficient in SPSS for data analysis, he prepared field reports, supported study logistics, and demonstrated a strong commitment to quality and thorough documentation throughout the research process.​
