​​Call for Abstracts: Nursing SPIRIT '24

Call for Abstracts is now open for Nursing SPIRIT ‘24 - Students' Perspectives in Research & Innovation Trends​ - a student-led nursing research symposium hosted and organised by the Office of Graduate Studies, Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery (AKU-SONAM)​.

Who Can Submit?

  • Currently enrolled students of Diploma, Bachelor, Master, or PhD programs in nursing from any part of the world.​

  • Nursing alums who have graduated within the past two years.

Submission Guidelines

General Instructions

  • The primary author must be a nursing student currently enrolled in a programme or a recent graduate with a nursing degree obtained within the last two years.
  • If selected, the primary author is expected to deliver an oral presentation of the abstract, preferably in person at the main event.
  • Participants may submit more than one abstract.
  • Only completed research will be considered for selection; proposals or ongoing projects are not eligible.
  • Research conducted within the last five years will be eligible.
  • Abstracts must be be text-only; no images or graphs  are allowed.
  • Literature reviews, projects, and research studies with appropriate ethical clearance (where applicable) are welcome.​


Abstract Structure

  • Length: 300-350 words
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 point size.
  • Key words: Minimum three.
  • Structure: Background/Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Findings, and Recommendations/Conclusion. (Template provided)
  • The Title: Followed by a list of the primary author and co-authors, along with their institutional affiliations, clearly indicating the presenting author.
  • Presentation Preference: The primary author should indicate their preferred presentation format (Oral or Poster).

  1. ​Download the SPIRIT '24 Abstract Template

  2. Rename the Abstract Template file to SPIRIT '24 Abstract - *Your FirstName LastName* before submitting

  3. Fill the SPIRIT '24 Abstract Submission Form, inserting your Abstract as a Word document in the Google form for successful entry into the symposim​

Submission deadline: Monday, September 30, 2024​​

Shortlisted abstracts will be notified by email and invited for an oral or poster presentation for the main event scheduled on November 26, 2024. For any queries, please write to spirit@aku.edu ​
