Women Leadership Academy
Aim
To produce more effective leaders with increased confidence by empowering participants with leadership and communication skills; and creating mentorship sessions for them.
Who can participate
The course targets upcoming female leaders.
During this pilot phase, applications will be accepted from within the AKDN network.
Prerequisites
Participants will need post-secondary education, with at least 3 years of experience in leadership.
Learning hours
It is estimated that each week, participants will spend 3-4 hours learning online. The course has a total of approximately 30 learning hours.
Learning outcomes
Leadership competence: Identify one's leadership skill and embrace strength focused leadership, improved self-confidence, emotional development, conflict resolution, improved decision-making, relationship building/networking
Leadership skills: Develop a skill of identifying how leadership is viewed in the participant's context and a skill in identifying what kind of a leader the participant wants to become. Communicate confidently and fluently in various workplace scenarios such as stakeholder engagements, pitching for funding.
Exposure to Tools: Gain knowledge on tools to use to identify the state of the organization, personal finance track tools, emotional development tools and self-care tools.
Content and schedule
This 6-month course will focus on leadership and mentorship by helping participants to identify what leadership is within their context and reflecting on what leadership style they would want to adopt or maintain. With individual practices in between the sessions, participants will get a chance to practise what they learn. Participants will also have access to videos which will be additional resources to the content they will be accessing every month. Every end of the module, participants will fill in review questionnaires and have a section to share their feedback on the module.
Teaching & Learning Modality
This is a self-paced course. Participants will access the materials at their own time. At the end of every module, they will fill in the review questionnaires for facilitators to evaluate.
Assessment
Participants will be required to complete 80% of the course activities and achieve a pass grade of 80% in the course units to receive a course completion certificate.
Participants performance will also be measured by their completion of the monthly questionnaires.
