African Portal

The African Portal is an online knowledge resource for policy-related issues on Africa.  the Africa Portal offers open access to a suite of features including an online library collection, a resource for opinion and analysis, an experts directory, an international events calendar and a mobile technology component — all aimed to equip users with research and information on Africa’s current policy issues.

University of Calgary Library

IED EA Library in partnership with Calgary university has a password protected Access to Calgary online resources.

ALUKA

Aluka is an international, collaborative initiative building an online digital library of scholarly resources from and about Africa. 'Aluka', is derived from a Zulu word meaning 'to weave', reflecting our commitment to connect resources and scholars from around the world. Access to resources is free in African institutions.

UNESCO

UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - was founded on 16 November 1945. For this specialized United Nations agency, it is not enough to build classrooms in devastated countries or to publish scientific breakthroughs. Education, Social and Natural Science, Culture and Communication are the means to a far more ambitious goal: to build peace in the minds of men.

Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ)
Directory of Open Access Journals is a service that provides access to quality controlled Open Access Journals. The Directory aims to be comprehensive and cover all open access scientific and scholarly journals that use an appropriate quality control system, and it will not be limited to particular languages or subject areas. The aim of the Directory is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact.

American Educational Research Assoc. (AERA)

The purpose of the American Education Research Association Special Interest Group (AERA SIG) Communication of Research is to:

  • Facilitate research on the nature of communication of educational research

  • Expand the understanding and promote the effective use of information technology and library-based resources in educational research.

Education Policy and Data Centre

  • Provide ready access to current, comprehensive education data for policy making and program management

  • Provide policy analysis and research focused on key issues in education

  • Build partnerships and networks to promote the use of education information for policy-making and program management. ​

International Reading Association (IRA)

Since 1956, IRA has been a nonprofit, global network of individuals and institutions committed to worldwide literacy.  More than 85,000 members strong, the Association supports literacy professionals through a wide range of resources, advocacy efforts, volunteerism, and professional development activities.  Our members promote high levels of literacy for all by:

  • Improving the quality of reading instruction

  • Disseminating research and information about reading

  • Encouraging the lifetime reading habit

World Bank Africa Development Indicators (ADI)

Africa Development Indicators is the premier data source on the African economy. It contains over 1,000 indicators and time series from 1965 for 53 countries. Data include social, economic, financial, natural resources, infrastructure, governance, partnership, and environmental indicators. It also brings an essay on a key topic for Africa, and this years' theme is the long term.​
