The Paediatrics Emergency and Critical Care at the Aga Khan University Medical College, East Africa is a sub-specialty that provides high-quality consultancy services as well as training for our residents. The facilities offer advanced care, both diagnostic and curative for seriously ill children including invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, post-operative care, advanced monitoring as well as dialysis services.​

For seriously ill children, timely and expert care is of the essence in ensuring optimum survival. Dr Isaac Kihurani leads a team of well-trained personnel in providing this niche service that supports many other sub-specialties in providing care to extremely ill children needing specialized care and support for a diverse range of medical and surgical conditions. This service will be significantly expanded once the state of the art eight-bed paediatric ICU and 10 bed PHDU are set up in the envisioned upcoming Children’s Hospital at AKHUN.
